Summer Career Camps
The Wilson Talent Center will once again offer Summer Career Camps for students entering grades 5-8 in Fall 2025! These camps provide students with hands-on experiences in career fields such as digital arts, automotive, cosmetology and sports medicine. Each camp runs Monday through Thursday from 8:30am to 12:30pm, with drop-off beginning at 8:15am. Space is limited, so register early! The cost is $80 per student per camp.
Sumer Camp Schedule
Week 1: June 9-12, 2025
Healthcare Heroes (Grades 5-8)
Instructor Sarah Morgan, WTC Medical Assistant Program
Campers will learn how to be a Health Hero by gaining hands-on experience in CPR/First Aid, personal protective clothing, and infection control. The goal of the week is to ensure students know how to stay safe in the medical field and save lives in their communities.
Intro to Automotive (Grades 7-8)
Instructor Tom Pratt, Automotive Technology
Students will begin learning the basics of automotive technology, starting with safety. They will also explore basic automotive systems and how they relate, with hands-on activities integrated throughout the camp.
Week 2: June 16-19, 2025
Intro to the World of Beauty (Grades 6-8)
Instructor Kasey Smith, Cosmetology
Students will explore the fundamentals of hair, skin, and nail care through fun, hands-on activities in the Cosmetology classroom and clinic. Each day will focus on a different area, while also introducing students to pathways for becoming a licensed Cosmetologist or Manicurist in the future.
Week 3: June 23-26, 2025
Digital Content Creation (Grades 5-8)
Instructor Nikki Adams, New Media
Students will explore multiple digital programs to create and produce projects. They will be introduced to photography, music, and film software, gaining valuable skills in digital content creation.
Injury Prevention & Performance Improvement (Grades 5-8)
Instructor Daryn Baker, Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation
Students will actively participate in activities designed to reduce sports-related injuries and enhance performance. Topics will include dynamic warm-ups, exercises to reduce throwing injuries, jump and landing mechanics to prevent knee injuries, and taping techniques for various body parts.
