Pupil Accounting & Truancy

Our Attendance team collaborates with service area districts to ensure accurate and consistent processes for tracking student attendance which is crucial for State Aid reporting. We conduct formal audits during the October and February pupil count periods to verify attendance records. Additionally, we offer training and consultation services to district staff, helping them navigate attendance reporting rules, laws, and best practices to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Ingham ISD’s Attendance Officers collaborate with local school districts and families to address and remove barriers to consistent attendance. Chronic absenteeism and truancy, resulting in lost instructional time for students, adversely affects educational progress and potentially signals underlying issues. Ingham ISD Attendance Officers partner with community resources, including Ingham County 30th Judicial Court - Juvenile Division, to promote overall student success and well-being.

Truancy & Attendance

Missing too many school days can affect a student’s learning at any grade level. Poor school attendance might also show there are issues at home that need additional support. Attendance Officers can provide information and assistance to schools and families in Ingham County. We are committed to working together to ensure every student has the best chance to succeed.
